When researchers uncovered a never-before-identified strain of fungi in the Alper Lab in the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering, they made sure it would always call the 40 Acres home. Graduate student Jennifer Knipe has been awarded a Philanthropic Education Organization (P.E.O.) Scholar Award, a $15,000 merit-based award for women from the United States and Canada pursuing doctoral degrees.
