Undergraduate Miguel Martinez Wins New Faces of Engineering Award
Undergraduate Miguel Martinez was recently awarded the 2015 New Faces of Engineering Award by DiscoverE, the national engineering volunteer organization that hosts Engineering Week.
Miguel is a member of the department’s American Institute of Chemical Engineer’s (AIChE) student chapter and serves as the organization’s biological engineering representative. He also assists in organizing AIChE tailgates, Lunch and Learns and many networking opportunities. Miguel also participates in Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day to help inspire young girls to follow their engineering dreams. As a research assistant in Professor Keith Johnston’s group, Miguel also worked on biodegradable gold nanoparticles used to improve drug delivery systems. Miguel is excited about discovering how the molecular world of chemical engineering can lead directly to improving the daily world we all live in.
