Undergrad Program Ranked No. 4 in the U.S.

The McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering was again ranked as one of the nation’s top chemical engineering undergraduate programs, holding steady at No. 4 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 Best Colleges undergraduate program rankings, published September 9, 2019. Rounding out the top five spots are Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of California-Berkeley, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Stanford University. In the 2020 graduate rankings published earlier this year, the chemical engineering Ph.D. program was ranked No. 4 in the nation.

A graduate student researcher looks into a microscope The Cockrell School of Engineering was ranked the No. 11 best engineering school in the country, while the undergraduate programs in aerospace, civil, chemical, computer, electrical, environmental, mechanical, and petroleum engineering all ranked in the nation’s top 10.

U.S. News & World Report’s undergraduate program rankings are based on diverse factors such as student retention and graduation rates, student-to-faculty ratio, scholarship and Pell Grant awards, class size, faculty salary, reputation among experts in academia, student excellence, and alumni giving.
