Texas ChE hosts Emerson Networking Lunch and Modernization Celebration

On Monday, March 26, 2018, the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering hosted a celebratory Networking Lunch for undergraduate students with Emerson leadership, recruiters and Texas ChE alumni who work for the company. The Networking Lunch gave students a chance to learn more about internship and career opportunities with Emerson at their nearby Round Rock location and time to speak with the company’s representatives.

Emerson’s Group President of Systems and Solutions, Jim Nyquist, was in attendance, as well as Jamie Froedge, President of Process Systems and Solutions. The two corporate leaders offered information about the company, advice to students who were seeking opportunities in industry and answered questions from the audience. In addition to the Networking Lunch, Emerson personnel and Texas ChE alums were able to tour the department’s facilities and get a firsthand look at the new upgrades.

The lunch was arranged to celebrate Emerson’s recent support to modernize the east and west undergraduate computer labs and the Unit Operations Lab. In total, the upgrades to the Texas ChE lab facilities are valued at $217,000, which includes an in-kind gift of equipment of the DeltaV™ distributed control system software and hardware, a server cabinet, junction boxes, KVM switches, Evosite control room console furniture, along with servers, workstations, monitors and a power column in the Unit Operations Lab. Improvements to the undergraduate computer labs include new equipment, chairs, displays, a remodel to both labs and improved networking capabilities.
