Kate Baird Receives Outstanding Graduate Coordinator Award
Texas ChE Graduate Coordinator Kate Baird received the Outstanding Graduate Coordinator Award for 2017, the university’s highest recognition for graduate advising.
The award acknowledges the exemplary performance of a graduate coordinator who provides an invaluable service to the university and its community of students, faculty and staff. Baird was selected for the award for her success as an effective liaison between graduate students and the graduate adviser, as well as between the graduate program and the Graduate School. She maintains a record of preventing and resolving problems, carrying out administrative functions effectively and efficiently, and actively works to help students become aware of and follow rules and regulations governing graduate degrees.
“Through Kate’s outstanding performance and service to our department and our students, she is clearly deserving of this award,” said Dr. Thomas Truskett, department chair.
This award contributes to Baird’s many recent accolades including the Cockrell School of Engineering Staff Excellence Award and the Ruth Crawford Excellence Award in 2016, and a Texas ChE Staff Spotlight Award in spring 2015.
Along with a placard, Baird received a $3,000 honorarium at the award ceremony held at the AT&T Center, April 25.
