Shallaco McDonald Wins President’s Outstanding Staff Award
Technical staff assistant Shallaco “Shak” McDonald received a 2017 President’s Outstanding Staff Award for his invaluable contributions that have made a significant impact on the university.
McDonald was one of 30 UT Austin staff members to receive the award this year, presented by President Greg Fenves during the President’s Staff Awards ceremony, April 20, 2017. The award recognizes individuals, like McDonald, whose performance clearly goes above and beyond what could be expected to advance the University’s mission. During the award ceremony, McDonald received a certificate and an honorarium of $1,500.
Since joining the department in 2014, McDonald has proven himself a valuable asset to the department. His role as a technical staff assistant has been instrumental in maintaining and improving upon lab equipment and the CPE building as a whole. He was recently awarded a Ruth Crawford Excellence Award in 2016 and won a department Staff Spotlight Award in fall 2015.
McDonald was also recently named an awardee of the 2017 Cockrell School of Engineering Staff Excellence Awards for his exceptional service to the department and to the Cockrell School. He will receive the award at the Cockrell School of Engineering Staff Forum, May 11.
