Danielewski and 29 other selected staff members from across campus were given a $1,500 prize and certificate presented by University President Bill Powers. The honor recognizes invaluable contributions of non-teaching employees whose outstanding dedication, competence, conscientious performance, excellent customer service, or ingenuity has had a significant impact on the university.

“I’m very grateful to everyone that voted for me,” Danielewski said.  “It was a pleasant surprise to even be nominated.”

Danielewski, also known as the “IT guy”, has worked in the department since 2009. He is responsible for setting up and maintaining hardware and software on more than 500 computers.

“We also take care of the many printers and scanners around the building, and manage account, network, and electronic document access,” Danielewski said.  “Randy Rife, my manager, and I handle all of these tasks together-we’re a good team.”

Danielewski’s past honors include the 2011 Cockrell School of Engineering Staff Excellence Award and the 2010 Ruth Crawford Staff Excellence Award.

“Patrick, though human, is a qualified magician in improving, maintaining, protecting and fixing our computers,” said Professor Adam Heller. “He has helped me with these issues on several occasions.  Patrick addressed and solved my problems not only with exquisite competence, but also with collegial friendship and enthusiasm.”

Originally from Poland, Danielewski graduated from UT Austin in 2005 with a B.S. in radio, television and film-although, he started out as an electrical engineering major. He started his career in IT working for the university’s Information Technology Services (ITS) and the ITS Help Desk beforing accepting a position with the department.

“The people in this department are great,” Danielewski said.  “I can definitely call each and every one a friend.”
