Carnegie Mellon University- Assistant Professor

Assistant Professor- Chemical Engineering

Carnegie Mellon University

The Department of Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions preferably at, but not restricted to, the Assistant Professor level. We seek outstanding candidates who are committed to research excellence in chemical engineering. For one of the two positions, we are specifically interested in considering candidates with clearly articulated interests in policy for a 50/50 joint appointment with the Department of Engineering and Public Policy. For the second position, we are open with respect to specific research domains but are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in envirochemical engineering, renewable energy technologies, and process systems engineering.

In 2008, the department renovated its entire building and experimental facilities at a cost of $27 million. The new facilities support a strong program in biological, fluids, envirochemical, systems, materials, and energy research. The budget of this research program has more than doubled over the past five years, along with an increasing interaction with the Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory, which is located nearby.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. Applications should be submitted online and contain a CV, a statement of research and teaching interests, and the names of at least three references. Applications received by October 10, 2011 will receive full consideration but applications will be considered until the positions are filled. Carnegie Mellon University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Equal Access Employer.
