Institute for Cellular and Molecular Biology

The Institute for Cellular and Molecular Biology (ICMB) is a university-wide interdisciplinary research unit that promotes cell and molecular biology research and education at the university.

ICMB is a world-class teaching center focused on basic research efforts in molecular genetics and molecular biology problems that will advance understanding of disease processes and methods for therapy or cure.

A broadly interdisciplinary faculty is highly interactive and engages in numerous collaborations, a major strength compared to other cell and molecular biology programs. Research areas involved include biochemistry, cell and developmental biology, molecular biology, molecular evolution, molecular genetics, microbiology, nanoscience, systems biology, neurobiology, chemical biology, drug development, structural biology, biophysics, biodefense, nutrition, pharmaceutical sciences, bioengineering, bioinformatics, and computational biology.
