Energy Frontier Research Center

The Energy Frontier Research Center (EFRC) is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Basic Energy Sciences and supports graduate students with a focus on advancing the understanding and design of nanostructured molecular materials for organic photovoltaic (OPV) and electrical energy storage (EES) applications.

OPV materials, including solar cells, EES materials and batteries for all-electric vehicles, are highly promising for future energy needs.  The EFRC team is composed of faculty members from The University of Texas at Austin College of Natural Sciences and the Cockrell School of Engineering, as well as partnering researchers from Sandia National Laboratories.
