Scholarships

Investing in higher education is a big commitment. Now more than ever it’s important to consider smarter paths to affording a college degree. The University of Texas at Austin is nationally recognized as one of the best values for money in higher education. Generous alumni, corporations and friends of the department also provide millions in annual scholarships to help students reach graduation without such a hefty price tag.

Future Students

Most scholarships awarded to incoming freshman are merit based and supported by the Engineering Honors Program, directed by the Cockrell School of Engineering. Incoming freshman should visit the Engineering Honors Program webpage to find out how to apply using the ApplyTexas application.

The ApplyTexas application is administered by Texas Scholarships, the scholarship section of the Office of Student Financial Affairs. Incoming freshman should submit the application by December 1 to be considered for all relevant university-wide scholarships and engineering scholarships.

Transfer & Continuing Students

The Cockrell School of Engineering does not offer scholarships to incoming transfer students or former students applying for readmission, known as continuing students. However, these types of students can get funding by completing the UT Continuing & Transfer Scholarships Application. Once enrolled in engineering, students can apply for assistance using the Engineering Scholarship Application for the following academic year.

*For more general information about engineering scholarships visit the Cockrell School’s Scholarships webpage or Texas Scholarships for university-wide funding opportunities.
