Baldea to Receive AIChE CAST Division 2017 Outstanding Young Researcher Award
The Computing and Systems Technology Division (CAST) of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) announced Dr. Michael Baldea as the recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Young Researcher Award (OYRA).
Baldea was recognized for “fundamental contributions and practical applications in the analysis, design and control of integrated and intensified processes, and the integration of operations and control.”
Established in 2004, the OYRA is bestowed annually on an individual under the age of 40 for outstanding contributions to the chemical engineering computing and systems literature. Baldea will receive the award and a $3,000 prize at the Institute’s Annual Meeting to be held in November 2017 in Minneapolis, MN.
The OYRA adds to Baldea’s many recognitions for research and service to the profession, most recently including the NSF CAREER Award for his work on the operation of energy-intensive processes, and his recent election as a CAST Division Director.
