Baldea Elected CAST Division Director
Dr. Michael Baldea has been elected a director of the Computing & Systems Technology Division (CAST) of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Chartered in 1977, the CAST Division provides relevant programs for AIChE members who share interests in computing and systems technology, especially in the analysis, design, and control of process management systems. Division meetings, seminars, courses and publications from the organization serve as communication exchanges for mathematics, management science, computers, control and systems.
Beginning in 2017, Baldea will be responsible for coordinating CAST Division executive committee elections, participating in executive committee meetings, voting on CAST Division awards, and administering the CAST Directors’ Award for the best poster presentation and the CAST Directors’ Student Presentation Award at the AIChE Annual Meeting.
“I am honored to serve on the CAST Division Board of Directors, and I look forward to working together with the Executive Committee members to intensify the interaction between CAST and the other AIChE Divisions, to further strengthen our industry ties, to continue our education and curriculum efforts and to expand our membership base, particularly through student outreach,” Baldea said.
Baldea’s appointment as a CAST director adds to his existing professional leadership appointments, which include serving as a director of the American Automatic Control Council.
