The award recognizes the graduating senior with the highest GPA who started as a freshman and finished the program in four academic years.

Hanbi performed research in the lab of Professor Gary Rochelle studying the relationship between amine structure and oxidation behavior. She completed an undergraduate honor thesis on this topic. Her research supported the group’s work to improve carbon capture and storage technology to reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere by filtering C02 from coal power plants and storing it safely underground.

Hanbi was also an active member of the AIChE student chapter, Tau Beta Pi Engineering honor society, and Omega Chi Epsilon, the Chemical Engineering honor society. She served as webmaster and historian for AIChE.

Hanbi will work for ExxonMobil as a reservoir engineer.
