Undergraduates Win Regional AIChE Jeopardy Competition

AIChE Southwest Jeopardy team in Conference room using longhorn hand signals to show their school spirit. Undergraduates from the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering recently won first place in the Chem-E Jeopardy competition at the American Institute of Chemical Engineer’s (AIChE) Southwest Regional Student Conference in Austin, Texas.

Areen Pitaktong, Amy Claire Howard, Randal Paxton Thedford and Akash Gupta (pictured L-R) represented UT Austin’s AIChE student chapter at the event.  They placed first over teams from Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, and the University of Houston.

The team will advance to compete in a national competition held at the AIChE Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah in November.
