The Revitalizing Science Scholarship provides a cash award towards Sigma Xi membership, an honorary scientific research society. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage and support the ongoing development of future scientists. The scholarship program is open to students, sponsored by their faculty, with the goal of presenting an “Upcoming Star” award to 50 promising researchers-in-training at the university.

Ting will be presented with the award at the UMN Sigma Xi chapter’s Annual Meeting in May 2015. The Minnesota Sigma Xi chapter is comprised of over 300 members, ranging from undergraduate students to professional scientists, throughout the state. Membership provides access to resources and opportunities that Sigma Xi offers, including funding for research, networking opportunities, and an American Scientist subscription.
