Cindy Figueroa Receives Ruth Crawford Staff Excellence Award

Cindy Figueroa, senior administrative associate for the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering, has been selected as the 2014 recipient of the Ruth Crawford Staff Excellence Award.

The annual award is based on nominations from faculty, staff, and students and recognizes excellent staff contributions. The award is named after former senior staff member Ruth Crawford who devoted 30 years of exemplary service to the department working for Professor Emeritus John J. McKetta Jr.

Nominators hailed Figueroa’s track record for helping students, lab personnel, departmental visitors, faculty, and staff resolve issues critical to the department’s research and educational missions. One nominator likened her performance to that of the sweeper on a soccer team because she has the knowledge and experience to move in quickly to help address or “sweep up” important administrative questions that can emerge unexpectedly.
