Alumna Dana Sellers To Deliver Engineering Commencement Speech

UT Alumna Dana SellersDana Sellers, chief executive officer of Encore, A Quintiles Company, and B.S. ChE ’75, will deliver the keynote speech at the Cockrell School of Engineering’s Commencement Ceremony Saturday, December 6 at the Frank Erwin Center at 9am.

Encore is a Houston-based health care IT consulting firm serving clients nationwide. In June of this year, Sellers managed her company through an acquisition by Quintiles, the world’s largest provider of biopharmaceutical services, effectively merging her company with a network of more than 32,000 employees conducting business in 100 countries worldwide. Encore has been honored as one of Houston’s fastest-growing enterprises, as well as one of the industry’s “Best Places to Work” for the past five years.

Sellers has more than 25 years of experience in health care, technology and consulting. Under her leadership, Encore’s annual revenue growth has averaged more than 200 percent since the company’s founding in 2009.

Before founding Encore, Sellers was president and COO of Healthlink, then the nation’s largest privately held health care information systems consulting firm. Sellers has held leadership positions at IBM, DuPont and Trinity Computing Systems, which she co-founded.

Sellers is a member of the Texas Health Institute’s Board of Trustees and has served on the boards of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), the CHIME Foundation and the CHIME Education Foundation. She is a past chair of the board of Healthcare for the Homeless in Houston, her hometown. Sellers was recently named Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year in Healthcare for the Gulf Coast Region and a 2013 Distinguished Engineering Alumnus of the Cockrell School of Engineering.

Sellers, her husband Gene (B.A. ’74, J.D.’77), and their sons Lamar (B.A. ‘07, J.D. ’11) and Baine (B.A. ’09) are all UT Austin alumni.
